China, Argentina to Boost Cooperation in Science and Technology
2004-12-03

China and Argentina agreed Thursday in Buenos Aires to further step up bilateral cooperation in science and technology.

Senior officials from the two countries blueprinted cooperation in this field for the 2005-2006 period at a meeting, held two weeks after Chinese President Hu Jintao's visit to Buenos Aires.

At the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue cooperation in such fields as astronomy, biotechnology, public sanitation and social development, as specified in the memorandum they signed in 2002.

For the 2005-2006 period, the two countries will expand their cooperation to the fields of bio-security, gene-technology, agriculture research, energy, and sustainable development.

The Chinese side recognized the achievements Argentina has made in this field, and the two sides decided to further promote the exchange of personnel.
