The capacity of cattle breeding is likely to increase to two million in five years in the city of Tongliao in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
Its' value will probably hit 1.2 billion yuan (US$145 million), accounting for 40 percent of the whole stock breeding as revealed by related sources. Located in middle part of Inner Mongolia, Tongliao boasts the exuberant Horqin prairie and becomes an ideal place for breeding cattle. During the past three years, it has supplied Hong Kong with 4,700 cattle with a value of US$1.8 million. The country's villages are undergoing agricultural restructuring with the aim to increase rural income and improve the quality of the rural economy, together with the abolishment of the subsidy on wheat yield. China has made a strong emphasis on the market-oriented production in agriculture, calling on the farmers to make timely shifts according to the real needs of the markets both at home and abroad. |
