Int'l Digital Fair Opens in South China City

An international digital fair was opened Monday in Huizhou City in south China's Guangdong Province.

During the fair, more than 800 kinds of the latest digital electronic products from various countries and regions will be exhibited.

The event has attracted quite a number of world-famous multinational corporations, ranging from IBM and NEC, to LG and Haier. They will come up with scores of the most advanced digital products worldwide.

Moreover, the fair will also provide a variety of technological and investment cooperative projects.

According to statistics, 17 contracts valued at over 700 million US dollars were signed on the first day of the fair.

So far, as many as 8,000 overseas-invested enterprises have opened businesses in the city, whose overall output value of the electronic industry almost reached 43 billion yuan (about 5.2 billion US dollars) last year.

Taking advantage of this fair, Huizhou will try to upgrade its electronic industry and grow into an "international digital city," said Xiao Zhiheng, secretary of the Huizhou City Committee of the Chinese Communist Party.
