A senior Chinese military official urged the army to work hard on its basic armament techniques.
Cao Gangchuan, member of the Central Military Commission and director of the General Armament Department of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), stressed at a meeting held in Beijing Monday that armament techniques are an important foundation and precursor to arms construction, so greater efforts should be made to study the requirements and rules of the work under new conditions in order to develop the country's arms construction rapidly.
Basic technical work for armaments mainly includes standardization for military use, military measurements, quality control, scientific and technological information and achievementsand intellectual property rights.
Development of high-tech weapons has set new and higher demands for basic technical armament work, making it more important and pertinent for future military preparations, said Cao, adding the success of the work is guaranteed to improve the Chinese army's battle effectiveness.
Basic technical armament work should serve the arms construction as the central task and it is necessary to increase creativity, relevance, practicality and standardization of the work, Cao said. |
