Ningbo Port to Be China's Largest Oil Transfer Center

     The second phase construction of an oil wharf able to accommodate ships of 250,000 dwt (dead weight tonnage) started recently at Ningbo Port in east China's Zhejiang Province.

  When the project wraps up in August 2002, the wharf will be able to handle 40 million tons oil annually, becoming the largest oil transfer center in China.

  The second phase includes installation of five oil tanks each storing 100,000 cubic meters of oil and some auxiliary equipment.

  Currently, the Beilun Harbor' 250,000-dwt wharf, also in Ningbo,is the largest oil berth in China with an annual handling capacityof 20 million tons.
