Shanghai will host the 27th Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) Congress and the 14th Council of Managers of National Antarctic Programs (COMNAP) from July 15 to 26 this year. Over 400 scientists from 40 countries and international organizations will participate in the events. It is also the first time for China to host high-level international conference on Arctic issues since the country involved in the field in 1986. The 27th SCAR aims to summarize the work and achievement made by its members on Antarctic research in the past two years, as well as working out new tasks for the coming two years. New technology and equipment and logistic backups for Antarctic research applied in the past year will be discussed at the 14th COMNAP, with an exhibition and seminar to be held in the meantime. The two conferences are co-organized by China's State Oceanic Administration and the Shanghai municipal government. |
