The building sector of China has become more structured, thanks to years of arduous effort to weed out irregularities, Tuesday's China Daily quoted Wang Guangtao, minister of construction as saying.
However, efforts to better regulate the construction sector will go on, Wang said, adding that the present building market is still a little bit chaotic because of local protectionism, monopolies, under-the-counter deals and defiance of construction laws. Therefore, the ministry, the State Economic and Trade Commission and the State General Administration for Industry and Commerce have mapped out their respective action plans for restoring market order this year. The State Council has made public the lists of standardized rules on markets and has ensured workplaces are safe. Public bidding for construction contracts, according to Vice-Minister of Construction Liu Zhifeng, will help foster fair competition among construction firms. But local officials should strengthen supervision and enforcement of bidding laws to guarantee the biddings' fairness, he added. |
