Brocade Confident of China's SAN Market

     Brocade Communications Systems, a U.S.-based global provider of infrastructure for Storage Area Networks (SAN), said recently that it will set up a SAN development center with a Shanghai company.

  Greg Reyes, Brocade chairman and CEO, said that the strategy ofteaming up with the Shanghai Post and Telecommunications EquipmentHolding Co. Ltd. shows the company's confidence in exploring the SAN market in China.

  He said that with the fast growth of China's telecom industry, China's SAN market will be vibrant, and will be fueled by China's accession into the World Trade Organization and the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

  With the expansion of the Internet, companies are facing the challenging task of storing, managing, administering and providingaccess to an ever-increasing amount of business-critical data. SANtechnology provided by Brocade can provide companies with an intelligent, easy-to-handle and safe networking foundation for their storage environment.

  According to Brocade's forecast, the global data storing industry will realize a market value worth 50 billion U.S. dollars,80 percent of which will be generated by the SAN technology.

  The market in Asia will be a strong boost to growth. By 2004, revenue from the market in China is expected to jump from last year's 3.5 billion yuan to 30 billion yuan.
