The Education Ministry of Benin recently purchased ScienceWord software. This is the Beninese government's first purchase of software from a foreign country to help the informatization of its education system. It is also the first time that Chinese software has been purchased by a foreign government. Meanwhile the Beninese government is circulating a notice around primary and middle schools in the country to promote the Chinese software. This is also the first time Chinese software is recommended by a foreign government.

ScienceWord is China's first world-class core infrastructure software masterminded by Liao Zhaocun, a young scientist and professor at the Computer Science and Technology School of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. It is also the world's only scientific document word processor. In 2003 the Ministry of Education organized a team of experts to conduct an appraisal of ScienceWord. They believed the software had taken the leading position in the world. More than 5 million users are currently using the ScienceWord software worldwide.
