2005-03-29

China's standard of the third generation mobile telecommunication technology TD-SCDMA will be industrialized by the end of June 2005 as scheduled, said official with the Ministry of Information Industry of China.

China has made substantial progress in researches regarding the standard since last year. The system prototype has undergone related tests, and dialogue in the entire system has succeeded. A terminal prototype based on such standards has been preliminarily finalized.

The Chinese 3G standard is thought to have bright future since its debut in Beijing last October. Sources said the standard is capable of putting up network and the terminals and base stations can be used for commercial purpose.

TD-SCDMA, along with America's CDMA 2000 and Europe's WCDMA are three dominant international standards for the third generation telecommunication technology in the world. The TD-SCDMA will be put into commercial use this year, according to a schedule of the Chinese government.
