The Beijing University of Chemical Technology, is a key university at the national level, placed directly under the Ministry of Education of China. It is one of the major universities in the “project 211” of China. The university is composed of the following 10 colleges:
The university operates 3 post-doctoral scientific research mobile stations emphasizing chemical engineering and associated technologies, material science and engineering, and chemistry. The academic units of the university include 20 doctoral programs, 37 master programs and 41 majors for undergraduate courses. Cheung Kong Scholars
Academic Fields Appropriate to the Invitation:
Applicants for the Cheung Kong Scholar appointment should have academic training and research experience in one or more of the following fields: Chemical Engineering Materials Science Life Sciences Applied Chemistry Analytical Chemistry Computer Science & Technology Mechanical Engineering Control Science & Engineering Information Science.
Requirements:
1. Active work in stable and leading-edge research fields and associated disciplinary orientations; demonstrated scientific attainment in their respective academic fields (including refereed scientific publications, significant conference presentation experience, prior research grant/contract funding, and academic awards). Such academic achievements should represent nationally or internationally recognized accomplishments in their respective fields: 2. Vitality and ingenuity in academic concepts; good academic relationships with domestic and international colleagues; recognition of accomplishments at home and abroad; good understanding of the international frontier in their respective fields; innovative ideas about work organization and research within their respective fields; and demonstrated leadership capability within their disciplines at the national and international levels: 3. Doctoral degree and academic and practical working experience at top-level universities or research institutions at home or abroad 4. Age under 45; 5. Willingness to accept greater than 9 months work per year on assigned posts for specially appointed professors; more than 3 months work per year on assigned posts for lecturing professors, no less than 2 months per year for special appointments.
Preferential policies:
Cheung Kong Scholars as specially appointed professors will enjoy scientific research funds as high as ¥2 million, housing subsidy, and basic working conditions, in addition to contractual salaries and benefits provided by the State. In addition, a stipend of¥10,000 is provided every year by the Ministry of Education for specially appointed professors within the Cheung Kong Scholar program. Furthermore, the university will provide assistance in locating jobs for their spouses and finding the appropriate education opportunities for their children. Lecturing Professors within the Cheung Kong Scholar program will enjoy stipends of up to ¥15,000 as an allowance which will be paid for the actual months worked. During the actual working periods, the university will provide standard teachers’ apartments for them. The university will also provide research assistants, laboratories, and offices for Cheung Kong Scholars as Lecturing Professors.

According to posted requirements, the university may recommend to the Academic Pacemaker appointment scholars who meet one of the following conditions: (1). Being specially appointed professors or lecturing professors of the “Cheung Kong Scholars Program” of the Ministry of Education; (2). Being awarded the National Scientific Funds for Excellent Youths (3). Being chosen in the “100 Persons” Program of the Chinese Academy of Science (4). Being chosen as an “Exceptionally Talented Person” of the new century by the Ministry of Education (5). Publishing more than 1 article on “Science” or “Nature” as the lead author
Preferential policies:
The university will provide laboratories and offices for Academic Pacemaker appointees. In addition to salaries, benefits and allowances provided by the State, the university will also provide a housing subsidy, and scientific research funds appropriate to the appointment.
