Based on the “Chang Jiang Scholars Program” of the Ministry of Education and the needs in CUC, we are seeking to recruit distinguished professors and chair professors of “Chang Jiang Scholars Program” both at home and abroad.
I. Positions Due to the disciplines and development strategies of CUC, we are seeking to recruit distinguished professors and chair professors in information science and technology, journalism and communication (first-level discipline), art (first-level discipline), and linguistics and applied linguistics (second-level discipline)。
A. Experience and Qualifications for Distinguished Professors 1. Distinguished professors should love People’s Republic of China, have good moral principles in research and teaching, be honesty and in good health; 2. Distinguished professors should be awarded the doctor’s degree, be qualified for teaching core courses, and work in the fields of teaching and researching. Besides, candidates should be below the age of 45 for natural sciences, and below the age of 50 for humanities and social sciences. As to highly-leveled overseas candidates, we may not rigidly follow the above requirements for ages. 3. Overseas applicants should hold the position of associate professors or other corresponding positions in world renowned universities. Domestic candidates should, in principle, have three years of experience and hold the position of professors or other corresponding positions in good and famous universities or research institutions. 4. Applicants should have higher academic achievements, such as publishing a certain number of papers in the highest level magazines well recognized in academic fields. 5. Applicants’ research fields should conform to the positions of the disciplines which we need, and should be related to the economic construction, scientific and technological progress, and social development in our country. 6. Applicants should have the potential in career development, be creative and innovative, and possess the ability to guide peer colleagues to catch up with and keep abreast of the world level in research and teaching. 7. Applicants should be cooperative, dedicated, and experienced in management, guide the team to work together in research, and cultivate young teachers in research and teaching. 8. The term for employment is three years. If employed, distinguished professors should work at CUC full time for more than nine months.
B. Experience and Qualifications for Chair Professors 1. Chair professors should love to serve People’s Republic of China, have good moral principles in research and teaching, and be in good health. 2. Applicants for chair professors should be below the age of 55 for natural sciences, and below the age of 60 for humanities and social sciences. As to those who have extremely prominent achievements in research, we may not rigidly follow the above requirements for ages. 3. Applicants for chair professors should hold the position of professors or other corresponding positions in high-leveled universities, and focus the work on teaching and researching. 4. Candidates should have higher academic achievements, be influential in their own disciplines, and obtain well-recognized achievements in the world. 5. The term for employment is three years. If employed, chair professors should work at CUC for more than two months.
II. Remuneration A. Remuneration for Distinguished Professors 1. Distinguished professors will be given the yearly salary which includes the following: (1) Distinguished professors will enjoy the salary of the second-level professor in CUC, school allowance and other benefits. (2) Besides enjoying the allowance of 100,000 yuan per year given by the government, employees, not including CUC’s own staff, will be given the allowance of 60,000 – 80,000 yuan offered by CUC. 2. Employees, not including the CUC’s own staff, will be offered funds by CUC for conducting research, of which no less than two million yuan will be given for natural sciences, and no less than 500,000 yuan will be given for humanities and social sciences. Such funds will be used for the cost of necessary equipment, research, research assistants, students’ allowance, and office expenses. 3. Employees, not including CUC’s own staff, will be offered temporary accommodation, and given help about the kids’ admission to schools in Beijing, as well as about the spouses’ jobs. 4. Overseas employees will be offered financial support for the return flight tickets (economy class) once a year. 5. Based on the needs of conducting high-leveled research, employees will be provided with corresponding office environment according to our standards for office work. B. Remuneration for Chair Professors 1. Chair professors will enjoy the salary of the second-level professors in CUC, school allowance and other benefits, and will be paid monthly. 2. Chair professors will enjoy the monthly bonus of 15,000 yuan, and will be paid during the work month. 3. Based on the needs of research, employees will be provided with some research funds. 4. Chair professors will be offered financial support for the return flight tickets (economy class) once a year, given research assistants, and provided with temporary accommodation. 5. Based on the needs of conducting high-leveled research, employees will be provided with corresponding office environment according to our standards for office work.

B. Other Materials 1. Contents of the materials submitted with pages marked; 2. Copies of certificates of research projects, awards, and patents listed in the recommendation form; 3. Copies of five research papers which can represent your research ability, and of the covers and contents of the magazines in which these five papers have been published; 4. Certificates of papers included in SCI, EI, SSCI, CSSCI, and of papers quoted by others (the original copy should have seals of related search agencies.) 5. Certificates of the important positions you have held at home or abroad; 6. Certificates of holding positions in international conference, or copies of the invitation letter or notice of giving reports or giving key-note speech at the conference.
