China to Establish Reporting System for Public Emergency in School

China is mulling over a reporting system for public emergency in school, according to the Ministry of Education at a news conference held recently. Food safety in schools has seen an improvement in recent years. In 2004, 108 food poisoning cases in schools were reported, in which 4, 921 people were poisoned including six dead. The number of cases reported dropped 17.5 percent from 2003, and the number of people poisoned dropped 25.52 percent. There was no death in the collective dining organized by schools. The Ministry of Education put forward the following measures: formulate training requirements for the staff of school dining hall and establish the system of training for them; establish a school emergency reporting system to further improve the response mechanism for public emergencies such as food poisoning and infectious disease. |
