CERNET2 supports the research, development and promotion of NGI key technologies for application. It dwarfs the current Internet by wider, faster, more reliable, prompt, convenient and manageable application, especially the significant application not available on the current Internet. Computational Grid and Data Grid: Large-scale Scientific Computation Set up a computational grid highly efficient in computing resources and a data grid of numerous data for the data transmission of large capacity and high reliability; realize the high speed and security of distributed transactions and conduct the charging and auditing on the whole network; reflect the technical features of NGI end-to-end transmission of high performance to provide services for the significant application of large-scale, multi-site computation and data mining.
Provide end-to-end transmission of high performance and wireless/mobile access services for the point-to-point video communication of large scale and fully demonstrate the brilliant future for the technical features of NGI’s high-broadband. Wireless/Mobile Application: Intelligent Transportation Build up high-speed wireless/mobile access network of NGI to utilize the multiple information terminal equipments (such as cellphone, vision cellphone, PDA) for easy connection with NGI; realize the roaming through the whole network to confirm the continuity and service quality of network application in movement, as well as safe and reliable remote control over various information appliances; integrate with GPS for the civil intelligent traffic management to show the great address space and removability of IPv6. Large-scale Video Conference and Television of High Resolution Set up a pure multi-broadcasting environment and control the service quality; realize the large-scale videoconference and high-resolution television and broadcasting based on multi-broadcasting and with safeguard for network performance, which is the interactive congruity solely supported by the typical application of NGI. Environment and Earthquake Monitoring Reveal the spatial features of IPv6 addresses and use various access sensors of IPv6 addresses; real-time collect data on environment and earthquake monitoring, such as those of atmosphere and hydrology to demonstrate “greater and more convenient” NGI. Remote Instrument Control and Virtual Laboratory Set up a virtual environment capable of real-time remote control over instruments, highly reliable, safe and prompt in control the information transmission, as well as with other technical features of virtual reality.
