CNGI-CERNET2 Major Events
In Aug.2003, won the bidding by competition to undertake the core network CERNET2 of China Next Generation Internet Demonstration Project CNGI and to operate CNGI-6IX; In Oct. 2003, opened the trial CERNET2 network connecting Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou; In Jau.2004, CERNET, together with eight international next generation networks announced the opening of global IPv6 network services; In Mar.2004, formally opened CERNET2 trial network and offered related service; In Sept.2004, the proposal of CERNET2 backbone deployment was approved by the Ministry of Education of China, which will be undertaken by 25 key research universities for 20 PoPs. In Dec. 2004, opened CERNET2 backbone PoPs distributed in 20 cities with 10G transmission rate; In 2005, started the initiatives of CNGI technical trials, application demonstrations and industrialization.
