2002-03-11

Global Forum & Prize-giving Ceremony
7–10 October 2002
Stockholm, Sweden

Invitation to participate in an unique Awards program
The City of Stockholm hereby invites local, regional and national corporations, organisations and  other stakeholders to a world-wide awards program for projects with pioneering IT applications that benefit people, environment and society.

On 7-10 October 2002 the Stockholm Challenge will host a Global Forum, including seminars and workshops, and a Prize-Giving Ceremony in Stockholm, Sweden. The four-day gathering will showcase leading IT-innovations from around the world. The Global Forum will be an excellent opportunity for participating finalists to exchange knowledge and experiences, create personal networks and get valuable international contacts. The finalists who attend represent all possible stakeholder groups, ranging from countries in the developing world and those in economic transition, to industrialised nations.

You are cordially invited to attend this awards program. Prizes will be awarded to winning projects in six categories; e-Government, Culture, Health, Education, e-Business and Environment. The entry form is available electronically at http://www.challenge.stockholm.se/entryform_index.html Last submission is 1st April 2002.

The Stockholm Challenge was initiated 1996, in partnership with the European Commission. It was then called the Global Bangemann Challenge. The mission of the Stockholm Challenge is to create a platform for exchange of ideas and experiences in a democratic and open way, and to showcase best practise within the field of IT. The aim is to contribute to diminishing the digital divide and create an information society for all.

Last year, the awards program attracted 742 projects from 90 different countries. The international jury selected around 100 finalist projects and the award winners came from all around the world, such as Australia, the US, Peru, China, India, Laos and Spain.

Do not miss this opportunity to participate this unique awards program for IT-pioneers!

Sincerely yours,

Monica Berneström
