China's leading newspaper, the People's Daily, will publish an editorial Tuesday, calling on college graduates to work at grassroots posts. The editorial, titled Facing the Grassroots and Establishing Career, said the proposals on guiding and encouraging college graduates to work at the grassroots level issued by the State Council recently are important to promote healthy development of the youth and coordinated urban-rural and socioeconomic development. It said that as China's economic restructuring goes on, college graduates face problems in finding jobs, but the western part, remoted and poor regions, and rural areas are in need of talents. College graduates should be educated and guided to work at these grassroots-level areas, it said. As college graduates' employment remains a long-term task, the proposals outlined preferential policies and measures to encourage these young people to work at western or remoted regions. According to the editorial, the proposals urged those regions to make market selection play a major role in choosing talents and establish a sound talent market system to reduce obstacles for college graduates to work at the grassroots level. |
