The Hong Kong Software Exhibition 2001 opened here Wednesday to enhance development of
local software industry.

   This year's exhibition, with the theme "Enterprise Solutions for Business Opportunities and Cost Saving," is focused on increasing IT awareness for small and medium-sized enterprises, and promoting the growth of the local software industry, and mobile commerce and information security will be the highlights of the exhibition.  

   The event will display the latest applications, software solutions and tools, as well as systems software.

   In addition, a series of on-site solutions forums will be held concurrently with the exhibition to address topics ranging from deployment of business systems to real time and on-demand multimedia content delivery.

   This annual Hong Kong software show was first officially launched in 1989. Hosted by the Hong Kong Productivity Council, this year's event has drawn some 100 local and overseas companies.
